Post by: onecustom73 on June 21, 2008, 05:41:45 pm
hey guys gotta quick ?,i dont now weather i should be concerned about it or not but my tranny has a little gear chatter in slow speeds,it shift fine,no grinding or anything, everything is pretty smooth, but when your going along from 1,2,3,clutch in or not, there seems to be a little chatter, you dont hear it above id say 35-40mph,but its just kinda weird, dont know much about them so thought id ask,my second ? is,when i was under there lookin the other day i noticed there is only a crossmember under the tranny and not the trasfer case, should there be one,i would imagine there should be,looks like alot of weight on that adapter but just didnt know how they came,i dont see one in the catologs,so thought id ask ya guys!

is your 465 mated to a 205? Because your 205 might not be fully out of 4wd. Lube up the linkage well.

Are you sure it's a driveline noise? The engine isn't pinging? Can you explain the noise a little better?

The transfer case does not have a cross member.

When mine did that it was because the throwout bearing was not disengaging all of the way.  Worked fine till it got too hot and seized while going through the pressure plate.  Blew the plate apart as well as the bellhousing and dented the heck out of the floor.  Long story short, clutch return springs are necessary, even if your friend builds the truck and forgets it.
