Title: clicking noise in front axle, what is it?
Post by: fallguy841 on July 01, 2008, 09:20:26 pm
I own a 1980 k10 4wd short bed 350v8 tbi and a th350 transmission 411 possi axles. I hear a clicking noise coming from the front axle at any speed, mostly over 25mph it is noticable sounds like a bad cv joint but there are only u  joints there and they are none greasable.
also the hubs are manual locking hubs and they work really good. How do u dissassemble the hub any way

                                                                                                                                         confuesd thank you in advance

Grab ahold of the axles and see if there is any play in the u-joints 1st.

Thank you,for the advice . I just did that shook both yokes and a lil, play if they had grease fittings on them the play would probably go away but they don't

Check the u-joints at the axles. Right behind the steering knuckle and axle tube

My wifes truck is doing this right now. The outer u-joints (like Vile said) are toast.
