Title: New to site.
Post by: Magnimike1 on July 02, 2008, 12:47:18 am
Great site here!  Just wanted to say hello.

My current project is an '84 SWB.  It is a base model truck, which is what I wanted.  I have a motor together for it.  It is a 10.5 to 1, .30 over 350.  It has forged pistons, Trickflow heads and a XE268 cam.  I hope it runs alright.  We shall see.

Thanks,
Mike

Placed my introduction in the member's rides section first.  I'll elaborate though.

My name is Mike. I am currently 32 and am divorced with two great little boys. My girlfriend's name is Christina, and she and I just bought this '84 SWB.  I work for O'Reilly Auto Parts currently. I once worked for Carquest as a store manager.

Thanks

Mike, Welcome! Just wondering... When you say "my girl" Do you mean your girl or your wife? My wife is into the hobby. I tease her about treating the truck like a Dodge Caravan. Go to the store, Curves, out to eat, run to Wal mart, ect. Which is really good in the big picture, we spend time together working on it & spend more time using it going out to eat, cruises, racing, ect. My brother's wife is just the opposite... she will hardly ride in his Mustang, & when she does, there is "it smells like gas, it shakes & is so loud you can't even talk" I'll keep mine a day longer. Have fun doing the hobby with your girl! Lorne

I got rid of the wife this year. She was like your sister in law.  My girlfriend is a keeper. It is actually more her truck.  When I finish it, I can buy what I want.  I'm not sure what just yet though.

welcome aboard man!  post pics of that beast if ya can.  sounds like that motor should be pretty stout.  i was considering that cam for my truck...i need decent low-end since i have a 4x4 but i want a choppy idle...
