Just completed installing a 250 (69 Camaro) in a 81 Chev C10 4x4 (used to be a 350 with HEI) .... age and hacking have the v-8 wiring in a mess. anybody know what wire connection is to positive side of the coil? Also need some help on what needs to go to the starter. I have only one large red wire to the junctin block on the firewall and have two other large red wire connected together that I don't have a clue as to where it goes. Any help with a wiring diagram or pics would be greatly appreciated.

Ouch! Good Luck! I hate figuring out wires--it's a nightmare.

An 81 will have a HEI coil in Cap. If you don't have one for the 250, and it is points, I would get one.
you have a positive from the battery to the starter and a hot wire from the starter to the junction on the firewall.

Do a search. There's quite a few posts with schematics

Well, I am almost there.... finally got a starter to work, (think it to be from a 348)... engine will consistently fire but then die. I have a wire from the "S" post on the starter to the positive side of the coil and a wire that is hot when the key is on to one side of a 9V ceramic resistor and a wire from the other side of the resistor to the positive side of the coil. Any ideas?

Are you running an HEI or points? What do you mean the starter is from a 348? As in Cubic inches, as in NOT a Chevy starter?

^ I figure he means from a 348 W-head big block. Precursor to the 409. Came out in '58.

running original points system..... starter is from an old "W" block, since posting noticed that the ru10 resistor I an using gets so hot it burned my finger
