Title: Upgrading Headlights?
Post by: txtj79 on July 27, 2008, 04:01:43 pm
My dad wants to upgrade his headlights on his '76 Chevy.  Is there anyone who can give me an idea of what the options are wouldn't mind sharing the info?

Thanks in advance....

I bought sylvania silverstars for every vehicle I have and I love them.  They Have a bluer light so when driving at night everything doesn't look so "brown" for lack of a better term.  I think they are about $20 a piece but they last forever just like halogens, but are way brighter and a more pleasant light.  The silverstar part number for 73-79 is H6024ST.  You can also brighten your lights by installing an aftermarket headlight harness, which will draw power for the lights directly from the battery instead of having the power go through the light switch first.

I've been planning to put in a relay harness (what 78 Chevyrado is referring to) as outlined in this (http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/exterior/headlight_relay.htm) article.  I've heard they make a huge difference.

pssst...bowtieguy...I think you sneezed when you were typing the link in your post.

Yeah- you typed a bad link there, Bowtieguy.

I don't think Chris has a problem with these other companies, it's just people not looking here first. If he sells something they sell he can most likely beat their price for you. It's no secret who the other companies are. Check with Chris first when here otherwise even if it's not in the online catalog. I believe those words are just on a temporary ban (I could be wrong though)

Yup, I would say that is the problem.  You can get a clear head light with replacable bulbs.  They are nice!

Yeah, I don't know how many times someone (usually a newbie, but not always) has posted on here "where can I find a ..." when all they have to do is check the link at the top.  Knuckleheads.  BTW I'm in the market for a cowl hood.  Anyone know where I can get a good deal on one?
