Hello Boys. I've been here a while just haven't had the need to ask questions yet. Anyway, here is my project: I'm rebuilding my second truck and it is a 78 K25 4x4, 400 sb (lotsa goodies in there, I'm really looking forward to firing it up this weekend) th400, np203 ( I know, that'll teach me for doing the drive shafts before the transfer case) with a very slick twin stick shifter, Dana 60, Dana 44. Now here's my question: I was snooping around the Dana 60 and noticed that it has no drain plug or fill plug in it at all. I am well aware of how to get the fluid out, but how in the heck am I supposed to get it back in? Aside from pulling it out from under the truck, flipping it flat, filling it, then put the cover on. So I am going to put two plugs in the cover, one for a drain and the other a fill. How high up should the fill plug be? Halfway?

Not sure how much help this will be....But you can buy the cover that has the drain and fill in them....If u could find one online im sure u could copy it

If it is a Dana 60 the fill plug is in the meatball cover.

Are you sure you don't have a GM 14 bolt?

The fill plug is on the side of the housing near the companion flange

If it is the rear axle it has to be the corporate 14 bolt, I've never seen a 60 out back on these trucks. The lower pic Vile has posted is the 14 bolt 10.5" ring gear full float rear used on one tons, the 14 bolt 9.5" ring gear rear used on 3/4 ton, the cover is more round, but both have the filler plug on the right (passenger) side of the casing near the pinion. My bad. You guys are right, buddy I bought this truck off told me that was what it was and now I see that he was wrong. One more question: I bought new 80-90 for it and it says that it is good for limited slip, does this mean that I do not have to add the additive?

I have always used the additive on the limited slip rears but I am not positive myself if they have gear oil specifically for them where you dont need to use it.

Unless you have an lsd in the front regular 80w90 is fine
