I have a 78 3/4 4x4 sbc 400 and am putting in a full msd ignition in it and my question is: Has any one of you ever wired in a 6a or 6al box? If so, did you use the stock wires that went to the stock distributer for your power hookups ? Or did you wire it freshly from the battery? Is there only 2 wires that went to the stock distributer? It has been a while since I took the motor out and put it back in and now I cannot recall, I know I should have labeled them but I did not, it seems to me that I can only find 2 wires for the thing, a big thick orange one and a small black one (and one for my tach) Does that seem right? How did the coil ground itself then?

So you are wiring a 6A module to your stock HEI distributor? It's fairly simple and MSD has the wiring diagrams right on their site.

If you are hooking up to a HEI distributor, check out page 16.

Not to my hei, I have a complete kit with pro billit dissy and blaster coil and was just wondering which wire to use for the switched 12 volts. I do believe that it is the big thick $#*() that came off the hei, correct me if I am wrong.
