i've been on google a good bit of the morning and can't seem to find what year application my motor is supposed to be. it'd help since i was replacing gaskets, all i could find was id charts for the casting numbers but they're not listing the year.
it's a 10066036...
any ideas?

I believe Mortec.com has the casting #'s you're looking for. That's where I go to look up casting #'s.
-
i did look there, but it didn't list the year for it. unless i'm supposed to assume it's for the 86 above that they listed for the other block ahead of mine.
this is how it reads:
10054727...350...86-up...2 or 4...one piece rear seal, some "Made in Canada"
10066036...350...........2 or 4...Target Master/Goodwrench crate motor, 2-piece rear
seal, "Hecho en Mexico"
10066038...350.....92....4...Goodwrench crate motor, 2-piece rear
seal, "Hecho en Mexico"

It would appear that is an "over the counter" GM replacement engine. Not the original one in any GM vehicle. Lorne

It is an over the counter replacement as Lorne pointed out. Unless it is a 1 piece rear seal, any pre-86 SBC rebuild kit will work.

i tried gaskets so far for a 80 up til we got to the oil pan gasket, then the gasket from the 77 was the one that seemed to fit. but when we pulled the spark plugs i think that said for a 79. i just wanna save the gas and the headaches of running back and forth to auto zone and not being able to finishs omething one night cuase it's too late and it's closed....
