Title: sm465 shifter removal

Any ideas on how to remove the shift lever? 1985 c20 6.2j with non removable trans tunnel. If possible, I'd rather not try to wiggle the fairly heavy unit out with the stick still attached.

look at the tower you should see how it locks.

Mine I had to push down and turn it with a pipe wrench it was stuck

The cap pushes down and turns counter clockwise.  You shouldnt have to turn it but about 1/4 turn and it should pop up.

Thanks guys, worked great! Trans is still pretty heavy  though.  ;D At least it came out without trying too hard.

Just remember if you have to remove it , it weighs 185lbs
