I'm trying to find out the model (C10, C20, . . ?) of a 73 Chevy truck. A search of VIN decoders for pre 1981 trucks has not been successful. The first part of the VIN is CCE623. Vehicle Registration lists its empty weight as 8500, carrying capacity as 17500, gross weight of 26000, and tonnage of 2.50. Truck belonged to my recently deceased uncle in another state. The state department of transportation requests this info for transfer of title to my family. We can't sell it without that transfer of title.
Any help you can give us would greatly appreciated.

Somethings not right with that Code from what I am looking at ???
Typical Codes should break down likes these for a 73-87 Chev/GMC, with the VIN Plate being found in the driver's side door jamb, at the back of the cab for 73 to 78, with the 79-87's having the mounted in the lower driver's side corner of the dash....
For '73-'78 VIN Break Down

79-80

'81-87

A pic of the VIN on the Plate/posting of the Full VIN would be the only way to decode it correctly(Or if you are worried about anyone seeing it, I'm sure you could PM/Email Chris(Capt Kaos the Site Owner) the info, and I'm sure he might be able to help you....

We have VIN breakdowns on our homepage also, and are expanding to above 1 Tons :
http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/VIN.htm, but those are up there yet..
You have a 2 ton pickup.
C = Chevrolet
C = 96" or 106" Conventional Cab
E = V8 Gas
6 = 2 Ton
2 = Chassis Cowl
3 = 1973

Ahhhh so that would make it a Chassis Cab C60 Medium Duty Truck then(Pre-Kodiak/Top Kick's)???
Basically a Cab and Chassis like this, minus the rear fire/rescue setup

Now that thing with a Pickup Bed would make one heck of a Hauler 8) I wouldn't mind getting a 4wd version for Rush Hour ;D ;D

Actually it is a Chassis Cowl, Chassis Cab would be CCE633
