My '81 C10 Stepside came from the factory with intermittent wipers. Ever since I bought my truck, after it warms up, the wipers will start randomly wiping the windshield as I was driving. The switch was acting flaky, so I went ahead and changed it out for a brand new one. Now, the wipers act like they are on delay when they are in the off position. They wipe at exactly 20 second intervals as long as the vehicle is running. It will not do it unless the vehicle is running. I cleaned the connectors that plug into the wiper motor, and the connector that goes into the back of the switch. Is there anything that I am missing? I would suspect the circuit board inside the wiper motor, but the intermittent works normally as does the low and high positions.
Thanks in advance

Unplug the wiper delay module and plug the connectors together. If it works normally (minus intermittent) then replace the module.

You were right, they work great without that module installed. Looking at the circuit board, I don't see anything wrong on it or bad solder joints. Is there a common failure component on these or do people normally just get new ones? I know I haven't been able to locate one yet, but I haven't dedicated a whole lot of time to it either.

I just did a quick google search and found a bunch of them. It's still available through most autoparts stores.

Vile. Is the wiper delay module connected to the wiper motor or to the switch?
Seems I'm having the same issue (wipers come on randomly)

It's under the steering column and plugged into the harness.
