hey i am trying to get my parking brake out but i can not get the cable out of the slot is there a way of doing this? i have it unbolted so i just need to get the cable free from it i have a haynes manual and it said to just slip the cable with the ball through the slot but it is not that easy.

But it is that easy. Loosen the slack on the equalizer and unhook it. If it has a connector with locking tabs pry up the locking tabs first.

which equalizer is it the front one and the locking tabs are on the cable right?

I had this exact problem when I took my e-brake out, and I posted it on here. That was early 2005 I'd say. I didn't mess with the equalizer, but I did have to fight with it. I believe I was able to grasp it with some needle nose pliers or somsething like that and pull on it until I was able to slip the ball out of the holder it sits in. You are fighting though against spring pressure back in the rear drums.

i tryed that with some pliers but it would not budge but i will try it again when the rain stops :)

ok i got the parking brake out but i had to cut the the cable because the nut on the equalizer would not come off but i did get it out lol
