I have a 76 C10 standard cab long bed. I was having problems with the door being out of alignment and not closing well. I had a buddy help me try to get it back into alignment. He noticed that the problem was that all the cab mounts were rusted thru. Are replacement cab mounts still available? If not can I just fab up some mounts and weld them on or is there something I am missing? Do I need an original rubber spacer or can I just use some old rubber floor mats or chunks from an old tire etc.
Thanks
Andy

The body mounts are rusted through. Rusted through the frame mount? rusted through the bottom of the cab? The body mounts are Mostly rubber with a thick steel top, and shank. The bottom washers have a tendency to rust out around the bolt, fall off, and then the lower half of the mount rubber falls off.
If it is the mount itself then yes you need new mounts. You cant cave man a chunk of tire of something in. If the frame mount is rusted out around the mount, then you need to do some welding. If it the floor support then you also need to do some welding.

Mabye I'm blind but I don't see the cab mounts. I need the ones right behind the front tires.
Yes I need the frame mounts. The part on the cab that the frame mounts bolts onto is fine.
Thanks

First, what are you talking about when you say cab mounts?
To me a Cab mount is the steel section that is welded to the cab where the body mount goes.
A frame mount is the steel support that is welded to the frame where the cab sits and the mount seperates it.
The body mount is the rubber ( or polyurethane) that goes between the cab mount and the frame mount.
Body mounts can be found here for 73-80 trucks:

Sorry is I said it wrong but I need the mounts that are welded to the frame and the cab mounts bolt onto. The one you had in your picture looks like just the rubber bushing and bolt that connects the cab mount to the frame mount.
Thanks

Hmmm. I think there is some kind of bolt hole needed so the body mount can be used. I will have to check with my buddy who has a steel fab shop and see what he can whip up.
Thanks for all your help guys. I think I will need to do some fabrication then use new body mounts to connect it all together. I was hoping to find some replacement frame mounts for sale somewhere that I could weld on.

Andy, If it is the pieces that weld to the frame, now bad are they? (gotta pic) You can probably get them from a donor for next to nothing, if they are completely shot, or you could do like Blazin suggested and weld on it....
Or you can... Wel, Vile beat me to it.
The piece 86 Chevy Silverado posted is the piece that goes to the cab floor.

WOW - way to go Vile ;)
There you go Andy - and only 20.00 apiece. GREAT find!!

A pic I shot just for you showing both pieces. This is an '86, your bushing will be different.

Looks like Vile is my new friend. ;D
Thats exactly what I need so will order them and have them welded on. I will check the bushings and mounting bolts and will probably need to replace them also.
Thanks everyone for your help with this. I will post pics when i get the new parts welded on.

You could weld, but the holes are there and you could use grade 8 bolts.

Thanks ccz I didn't notice the bolt holes.
Well Vile your link was great and the price was good too but when I contacted them to order the parts they said the were discontinued! >:(
I stopped by a friends shop a couple days ago and showed him my truck. He didn't think it would be that hard to fab up some new frame mounts. Of course he has a steel fabricating shop and has done this kind of work in all kinds of metal for 25 years so if he says its no problem I will believe him ;D As he likes to say "We have the tools". I am going to show him the pics of the part so he can see the recess where the rubber piece goes. Should be interesting to see him do it. Of course my job is just to hold stuff, pass the beer and stay out of the way.
He is going out of town this week so I will hook up with him next week and get er done.
Thanks
Andy
