Title: Not so newbie

     Hello everybody from Maine!!  I am not such a newbie as I have been a lurker for a couple of years. I have recently asked a few questions.  I am 40 years old and a proud father of a 14 yr old boy that just started high school and ROTC.  Been married for 6 years now to my beautiful wife Lisa that hates my truck.   I have a 1987 Chevy 1/2 ton 4wd that was previously a state of Maine wardens truck that sat for many years.  I think I am gonna name it my money pit.  Spent a lot of money for it and on parts.  I sure hope I get to drive it one day.  The body on it is perfect for being in this state all its life.

     Been building S10's for years, have owned a couple of full size trucks (85 c10 and a 79 k10) but did not get into them like this truck. 

     The truck plans changed this past weekend as I was putting in the motor and the motor sat high on one side by a lot.  Ended up taking motor out and figured out that the frame is twisted from what looks like the truck slid of the road and the right rear front shackle must have hit something that twisted the frame all the way up to the front crossmember.  Spent the rest of the weekend tearing the truck apart.  Now its gonna be a frame off restoration.  I did find a frame at a junk yard about 20 miles or so away from the house that was offered to me for free.  Not sure what the shape of the whole frame is in yet.  I will start a project on it shortly when I make a little more progress and figure out what I am really gonna do with it.

My son is in his freshman year at a local collage with a four year Army ROTC scholarship.

     What part of NH are you in?  I have read a lot of your posts and replies and have learned a lot from you.  Sure wish you lived closer to me right now to check out this frame of mine and have you give me your opinion on what to do. 

JJSZABO,
     Good for your son!  He sure does have a great future ahead of him for making that decision.  So far my son seems to like it at the high school level.  Hope he stays with it into collage too.
