hello:
looking to fix up a 87 short fleet, i would like to keep it basic and reliable, nice & fun to drive but not over the top. since the exhaust needs to be replaced i wanted to upgrade to a simple dual exhaust. should i just go to a muffler shop or are there prefabricated dual exhaust setups made for these vehicles which would be readily available from specific vendors? any advice as to what the most efficient cost effective path would be?
thank you.
ps-will gas mileage improve with a dual exhaust?

forgot to mention-
small block
automatic
2wd
i would like the exhaust to exit from the rear
vehicle exempt from emissions testing because of age so i am guessing the cats won't be an issue.

We sell a mandrel bent X-pipe system that is a bolt in for Long bed trucks and cut to fit for SWB trucks. They are designed around headers, so you would need downtube fabbed up to work.
An exhaust shop could hook you up fairly well also.
