hello all new to the forum and i am sure glad i found this site! i am sure you will be answering alot of my questions in the near future! i have a 350 and i am not sure if my timing is correct. there is a after market timing cover on it and it has no indicator of where my timing should be i can hook up my timing light and see the line but i have nothing to reference it to. i am just going by how the truck runs and how it sounds. is the any secondary way to tell if it is timed correctly. any advice is welcome. thanks

Take the #1 spark plug out and look in the hole with a flash light. Turn the engine until the piston is all the way up. Reference a mark on the balancer to the timing cover with some white paint and you'll have a close enough timing mark to get you in the ballpark. From there you can fine tune it by ear.
