Title: frame cracking
Post by: ngarman123 on October 10, 2008, 01:00:57 pm
i know the frame is known to crack where the steering box mounts to the frame especially when larger tires are used i was wondering if anyone has had the frame altered to make it stronger? i was thinking about putting a plate on the inside of the frame to held support where my steering box mounts to the frame. any suggestions or opinions

You can purchase a bracket already made to reinforce the frame

Even if the frame is ok i would put 1 in to reinforce it in case you want to make it more rigid and to be on the safe side.

thanks

The 73-80 models had it worse. What year is your truck?
