The truck is not a standard, it's an automatic. The little black knob on the end of the handle is nasty and no amount of cleaning will make it quit making this weird rubbery plastic goo. You know, like steering wheels do sometimes when they are to old. I am tired of it getting on my hand and they sell a brand new one for the truck at the local auto parts store. It's about 4 dollars. Is there some special way to get it off? I twisted on the thing pretty good and it didn't even begin to budge. I dont wanna break it or make it harder on myself in some way. Anybody know how you get it off?

It just pulls straight off. If it's really stuck heat it with a heat gun and wear a thick leather glove then give it a good pull.

Think thats why it would not turn? Though it seems like it would still turn a little bit.

No it pulls straight off.

Know how difficult it will be to get the new one on? Will it also have to be heated?

Just tap it on with a plastic mallet
