On my 73, it came with factory AC. Im not going to use it, so its long gone. Now that Im in the reassembly phase, I want to put all the right non-ac parts in the cab ( fresh air vents, controls, etc) My question is, for the controls, do I need to get all the rods and levers from a non-ac truck? Or I can just get the controls and use the rest of the existing pieces? I know I need the controls itself. The vents are pretty much straight forward. I hope this makes some sense ??? :P

Just leave everything in tact. Remove tha AC components in the engine compartment. You can also put in one of these http://www.acdelete.com/pages/73-90_Truck.htm

cool, I already got one of those delete plates 8) makes me feel better that I dont have to get all the parts from a non ac truck ;D

I actually pulled the harness back through the firewall and hid it all under the dash. I cut a precision hole also in the inner evaporator case for the blower motor resistor so that was hidden too.

You might be able to fab a piece to fit in there..

Don't worry, I'm in the same boat as you. I'm removing all of the ac components and going with just a heater/defrost system.......but I just can't justify spending $170 for a cover alone. I'll eventually find an ac delete truck locally to pull the cover from.

you know that sounds best to me too

I lucked out and have two cabs w/ the factory delete. That is about the only thing left on them that is good though
