I did a search and couldn't find out. Wandering if anyone knows the approximate weight of an 82 c10 single cab? Interested in knowing for rigging purposes as I am seriously contemplating swapping the frame out and doing a 4wd conversion. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure how much it weighs but 4 guys can easily pick it up and if you have no help 2"x4"s will work.
-
thanks. i was considering reinforcing my shop rafters to hoist it up and roll one frame out and the other in. However, if it's that light I guess well be having barbecue and brews for the boys.

Just don't feed 'em before the jobs done!

If I had to guess with glass, seat, interior, wiring, doors etc. I would say 600 to 700lbs. Empty shell 300 to 400 lbs.

If you have an engine hoist and a long enough 4x4 you can do it by your self no problem.

thanks for the replies and helpful tips. I will make sure to wait to feed them so they don't slack off. Going to look at a 4wd frame tonight.

Always safer with more people but I have done it with 2 both striped and with most stuff still in the cab. That was stupid. Not bad at all with 4 guys and you don't have to spend all the time rigging stuff up.

Heres how i did my cab and i did this by myself:

and

I did this with a cherry picker and a 4x4 piece of wood that went from 1 side of the cab to the other.I also did this to my 80 cab when i removed it off the frame of my old stepside and worked fine.
thanks

I have moved my cab several times an attempted it several different ways. I estimate the cab to be around 650 lbs w/o doors. 4 men is sufficient to lift/carry/move a cab shell. I've also moved one around with 2 people, but wasn't too concerned with being careful. I recommend at least 4 people when parts are painted. I've also used an engine hoist and a shop lift. None of which were very fun.
