Title: Chris - need drivers vent window
Post by: JJSZABO on October 20, 2008, 08:34:30 am
Chris - do you sell new vent windows?

I replaced the rubber around the vent windows, but the drivers side didn't work.  I have alot of wind noise and water leaking.  The passenger side worked.  I want to completely replace the drivers side vent assembly with a new assembly.

Thanks,

Jeff

Order me one Chris.  I need the drivers side (tinted window).  How do you want me to do the transaction?

I had to go to the doctor this afternoon so I will try and call you about the vent, or send me an email.  Don't worry about payment until I get it in my hand.

is there a way to replace just the rubber in those vent windows because mine like and i dont have 250 dollars to spend on a new one right now. plus i need both sides so it would be 500. But mine leak like a siv, air though not water, but its annoying when you are trying to drive down the road and listen to your 350

I replaced the rubber in both of mine and the drivers side didn't take.  Still has lots of air noise and leaks water.  I assume the assembly is bad.  If I have to remove the vent window a second time to fix it, I decided to replace it with a new assembly.  This way i know it will be fixed - I hate doing things TWICE.  I figure after all the work I put into this truck, my time is worth something.

I havn't driven it yet with the vent window in.  I pulled the door panels to fix the vent window on the drivers side and the door panel on the passenger side to replace the power window motor.  The power window motor went out a week after my son started to drive it.

I'll post pictures - I just got into a hurry.  The vent window fits like a glove though.

I replaced both of the vent window seals.  They are a pain.  I have a write up on around here somewhere.  I removed the two rivets on the hinge to reinstall the vent window gasket.  After all that work, the passenger side worked but the drivers side didn't.  The drivers side still had bad wind noise and leaked water.

I went ahead and bought a new vent assembly through Captkaos.  I looked at the new one I received and the old one I tried to fix.  I just couldn't get the gasket to "sit" just right in the old vent window.  I used plenty of soapy water to try and coax the gasket into place - but I guess it didn't work.

I have learned to remove these vent windows quickly now :D  It certainly was a good learning experience.

I moved this to the relevant posts.  Yes I can get them, the fit just like factory and look just like factory because they are GM pieces.  They are $245 + shipping.
Read above for more info.

I can tell you they are wonderful, I bought one a few years ago and just put it in last month.
