Are these pretty common trannys? I need one for my 86 6.2l diesel pickup. Thanks
-
Very common as far as 3/4T chevy and Dodges go.

Will a dodge nv4500 bolt to a GMC 6.2l diesel? Thanks!
-
Not without some modifications.

okay. I've been hearing that nv4500's are quite spendy and hard to find. Anyway, if I buy an 87 GMC k25 with a 6.2l diesel...what are my options? Yeah...I can spend $3k on a transmission that would the exact one I would want...but that isn't an option. It had an auto in it...and not sure what I want back in it.
I'm thinking a th350...any drawbacks? Also, did diesels have 700r4's behind them?
Thanks! ;)

So, will a 700r4 be fine behind a 6.2l? And which years of 700r4 are not weak? Thanks!

I picked up an NV4500 for $500 from a 95 chevy 1 ton 2wd they are around just keep an eye on craiglist in your area if you are wanting to stay with a chevy diesel you might be able to pick up an engine and tranny combo.
Hope this helps
-
its already a chevy diesel..just want a tranny! Thanks for the help!

Diesels did come with 700R4's, the good ones are 1987-up.
You can get a used NV4500 for a good price if you keep your eyes open. New is going to be costly.
You can go with a TH350 also.
