Anyone running one of these combos? , i got a heck of a deal on some RPM heads and was thinking of buying the RPM Intake and RPM cam that match. I just wanted some opinions....Bottom end is stock for now, have 373 and a 2500 stall going in after H/C/I install Opinions??
-
Just my opinion, I think the heads and intake are good but I feel there are better cam options out there.
-
how do you like the xe268 ?
-
I like it alot. I chose this based on the all-around good specs this cam had as well as the good things I've heard about it for a fun street cam. I've also read it as being told by CompCams themselves that it's the best hydraulic non-roller cam they make. I feel it's versatile enough to be used with anything from a 300 HP up to a 450 HP motor.
-
They Edelbrock combo kits were made to work as a package. Overall they should be well matched if you base meets the criteria.
-
Yep. Edel has done the research on these they know the power it'll make that's why they put the package together, but I'm cheap, so I'd go to summit or e-bay and but the same spec item that are lesser names like weiand, and summit brands and save some money to buy food.
-
I agree that the package is designed to work well together, but from what I've seen, it doesn't make the power that it could given a different cam profile. Just my .02.
-
Im debating between the Edelbrock and the XE268 , I filled out a cam card with Comp and Crane..waithing their reply...leaning towards the xe268
-
Definitely go with the performer rpm. Better yet use the summit cam. Same thing 1/2 the price http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=SUM%2DK1107&autoview=sku

If I can scrape together my last few remaining needed parts, we can see how that cam sounds and most importantly performs Gabe.

Mike do you have a driveshaft already? And are you needing a long or short tail 350??
-
I got a drive shaft. I just need to get a stall for the T350 and some roller rockers. Then I can measure and buy the pushrods. Then just some small odds and ends here and there...
-
so u already have a tranny?
Comp Cams recommends the xe268

Yep, picked up a fresh one with a shift kit for two bills. My engine how it sits:
.30 10.5 to 1 350
Trickflow heads
RPM airgap intake
XE268 cam
-
Mike where did you pick up you botton end kit?
my 350 is stock I got the RPM heads, RPM air Gap, (NOT istalled) 1.6 rr, Gonna put the 373 and locker on next week, I was thinking about buying another 350 block and putting all my stuff on it( crank, rod, pistons , heads ect..) instead of tearing my current block apart and be without for a week or two...
-
I need a gears and a posi too.. But later.
I bought my "package" from EPW (Engine Parts Warehouse) in Dallas. It is over by the new FBI building on Northwest Highway.
-
pmme the price if you dont mind ;)
-
Both of those 350s should run really nice when done. Please let us know how it goes once they are driveable. I've been thinking a lot about swapping my intake for a RPM Air Gap. Or, going for the much less expensive Professional Products version. Just wonder how the quality of them is.
What does that RPM cam spec out at?
What method did you use to contact CompCams about their cam recommendation? When I tried to contact them, twice by fax and once by email, I got ZERO response. No, I didn't call which I'm sure would have been the best I suppose but when they don't even bother with their other methods of contact that they offer, that really cheezed me off. Maybe cuz I am Canadian.....
-
I contacted them though e-mail, took 3-5 days Crane has yet to return e-mail ???
