im having a lil bit of a prob here. my prob is that i have a really good 283 i built and its balanced and can rev for days but its in a 4x4 with a 12 inch lift on 38.5 boggers and 4.11 gears. but the motor has really good power but no torque. now on the other hand i have a chevy 350 4 bolt main thats stock in the bottom end. but for the top it has cammel hump head, nasty cam,rpm intake. now would it be worth the time swaping it out? o ya i only go mudding and climb hills

I say stay with the three-fitty...you need torque ;D
-
I'm not following you on which one is in the truck now... But I agree with Nova, you need grunt to move the big heavy object with big heavy tires in the mud & up hills. A 283 has little business in a big 4x4 truck. Lorne

I clearly read that the 283 is in the truck. Put a stock cam and intake in that 350 and drop her in.
-
The 283 is for a light car that you can hit revs high on a curvy mountain road. A 350 or better is for a truck that doesn't need roads to get up that mountain.

i have the 283 inside it right now and it dos pretty good on the street and in the mud but my prob with that motor is my power band dosent start tell 2500 rpm. so from a dead stop my truck has a hard time getting the tires rolling. but once i get moving its not that bad. but i think im gonna slap that 350 in it. now what would that 283 be good in?

put it in a chevette. or maybe an s-10. buddy of mine has a 70's volvo with a 327 in it, that car's retarded fun.

retarded fun lol hahahaha i was thinking about puting it in a s10. id put a 3500 stall and let her rip haha just picure a 91 s10 hiting 7500 rpms and sideways
