This is my first post,so please bear with me,I'm building a 1985 Chevy Crewcab Dually from the ground up.I;m building a 454 for it,it has a Turbo 400 in it now,its geared 4:10,I need overdrive!Any thought or ideas? As inexpensive as possible,I plan on towing a gooseneck horse trailer with it and my jeep as well. Not at the same time, lol.thanx for the advice.
P.S.My name is Tim,I live in NC,Pleased to meet everyone

I personally think it would be cheaper to go with 3:73 gears in the rear end, you'll get close to the same results, but if your bent on a tranny, try to find a 4l80E. It will cost more, but will last longer. 1 4l80e is cheaper than 2 700r4s

But the 4L80E requires a stand alone controller. If you could find a 90-91 TBI 454 setup with 4L80E you could upgrade the trans and the injection system. My 1991 CREW has this but with a 350 and gets 17mpg on the highway.

Hey Tim, why don't you shoot the Guys over at Gearstar an Email, or give them a ring.....

For the price of what a decent 4L80E and Module, with the wiring pain in the rump it will cause you, I'm sure you could get one of their 4L60 or 200-4R's that would work for you.....
The only other thing you would need, would be a good wiring harness for the swap... I would check out Ron's Site for that!

My Apologies if I'm out of line for posting this Chris, I didn't think that this would be a problem, since I don't see anything listed in the Site Store..... :-X
