Title: Floor pan replacement, but what about the cab supports?
Post by: team39763 on November 19, 2008, 01:39:31 pm
The floor of my truck has a bunch of rust and a few holes in it.  I looked under the truck and it appears that the area directly above the cab mounts is very thin.  The floor in that area is very flimsy and I could probably kick it out if I wanted to.  Is there any danger from not really having anything solid over the [front]cab mount?  I'll replace the floor soon, we're just dealing with an unexpected family emergency so money is gonna be tight for a couple months.  Can I get away with just having some thin sheetmetal welded in place for now?

if mine can support my Bigg Mass(talking about all of me, and not one portion), with me seeing long wide strips of daylight under me :o, I'm sure yours will hold out for a bit longer... Just don't go too much longer( talking years not months), steer clear of extreme road hazzards, and lake forging just to be safe...

I was just wondering if the cab would drop once that floor panel finally falls off(over the cab mount).  It seems to be worse now than when I first bought the truck.  A while back I had to hit the brakes hard and my passenger was scared he was going to go through the floor.

Are you talking the floor support brace?  If you decide to repair the floor I'd look at that also.

The cab will drop if the support rusts through.  But it won't be any worse than now.

Ok, that answers my questions.  The support brace is still there, but theres not really any floor above it to support. Thanks ya'll.
