Floor Difference 2WD & 4WD

What exactly is the difference between the two, and in what area? I'll be replacing a rusty '79 K10 cab with a nice '83 C10 (full body & bed swap). The center tunnel on the '79 looks definitely taller than the '83, but is it also different under the seat area?
Looks like I'll need to cut the tunnel out of the '79 and use it on the '83 floor; I'll make it removeable, I guess, like a race car.
I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who's done this swap; thanks in advance!

The transmission tunnel is taller and there is clearance under the seat as you have found.  You need all of it to work without a body lift.  If you post the pics here others can see it.  Everytime I get the opportunity I forget about taking pictures.

A lot of guys replace cabs in good old Michigan here and the 2wd cabs are a lot easier to find.  Most people use a 2" body lift and avoid any fab to the cab floor.  Just cut in the shifter location.  It took me forever and a day to find a somewhat decent 4x4 cab around here.

Thanks for the info; I'm not planning a body lift, but I'm thinking I can cut out & transfer the 4x4 area into the 2x4 cab, and it should register around the tunnel or hump.
One truck's at home and the other's at my bodyshop, and the swap will happen in the Spring, but I'll post pics of the floor mod when it happens.
Someone should reproduce the 4x4-specific panel and make it easier for guys to re-body, but maybe that market isn't big enough to justify it.

I always cut out the 2 wheel floor on the mark that the factory uses. Cut out the 4x4 section big, then trim it down to fit nice. Then I use the ribbon tape that is for the long run between two sheets of metal roofing for a sealant, & screw it down with 7/16 hex head self drilling / tapping screws.
