please any one ever actually do this themselves  ?  I want to r and r the flex plate it is missing teeth .. on this truck which has the over drive ..do I remove linkage and lines then crossmember bash plate inspection cover etc driveshaft ..do I need to split the transfer case from the trans ?  I have the truck up on good jackstands  and and move around under it with a creeper well  hoping to get advice from someone who has done same thing ..without removing engine trans thanks leon !

You can leave the trans and transfer case bolted together. I just did this the other day because someone put the wrong flexplate in!

I have done this on a 2 wheel drive but should work.  I removed the torque converter bolts.  I have slid the trans backwards by using 4 starter bolts in place of the 4 bottom bolts. I took the drive shaft off, removed the bolts from the trans mount, jacked the transmission up enough to clear the crossmember and slid the trans back enough to r&r the flexplate.  The cross member is the worst part of the job.  I wouldn't think other that the extra weight of the transfer case it should work the same.  I do remember the transmission lines had to be removed.  Good luck...
