TURBO...Definately TURBO('S). Liek with everyone else this is my opinion and I have no grudges against blowers but it takes power to run a blower and the turbo just uses wasted energy. STS would be my first chouce and they even offer a blow through set up that will reduce your fab time exponentially.
I say throw two of those things on that stock 305 will no more than 5lbs blowing down the carby and give that thing heck til the crank, rods, rings and pistons are coming out the botom end But I'd have that 383 on hot stand by.
STS is where I'm turning to when my 383 is complete..I was however torn between STS and Procharger PSC units and who knows I may have I may build both all in good time.

If you're considering a twin setup on a 305 for 5 pounds , just do a 75 shot. It'll be much cheaper, and the results will be similar.

I have been an STS dealer since 2003 (when they started), so I have some first hand knowledge and real experience with them.  Lag is directly proportional to the turbo sizing.  Putting a huge turbo behind a 4 cylinder is going to yield you lag.  The distance/length of the pipe from the intake is no different than the amount required to run and intercooler on one.  None of the cars we have installed STS kits on have had any lag.

With said, if you intend to Turbo a carb'd motor you better have a good understanding of how they work.  If that is your intention a bolt on supercharger is a better idea, as it makes it easy to put it on and make power.

As for twin turbo'ing for 5lbs, I would agree with roadrage41, that would be a waste of money and time.
