Steering Column Rebuild
« on: June 17, 2012, 10:39:17 pm »
I'd like to rebuild my tilt, stick shift steering column. Does anyone know where I can get a parts kit?

I'm interested in getting the ignition components and lock plate. Could definetly use a source if anyone knows one.

Thanks in advance.

I am going to check this company out for mine when I get to that point.  A local guy I talked to says he uses them.  I do not know anything about them yet since I have not got to that point yet, but the guy says that they have always treated him good.

I stopped by this salvage yard looking for a part...struck up a conversation with a guy there about a steering column on the counter. He says they will rebuild steering columns for $50 plus parts. I would assume they might sell the parts too? For that price. I might let him do mine after I get an estimate on the parts....what do you guys think? He said he has done about 2000 of them. Here is the contact info if you want to inquire.

It sounds like he started rebuilding them while working at the junk yard, which means he had access to all kinds of stuff.  He is telling the truth about rebuilding about 2000 of them, I would trust him, he knows what he is talking about more than likely.
