Transfer Case Problem?
« on: June 02, 2013, 11:02:30 am »
It's been a while since I've posted here.

I've got a '73 K10 with a 205 TC.  The best I can tell is that the front seal is leaking.  I serviced the rear diff this weekend and I've got a vibration that feels(?) like it is right under my feet when I am driving.  My plan is to have my driveline serviced Tuesday - balanced and new ujoints - but I think my transfer case has problems.  With the leaking, would that cause the vibration?  Does the transfer case spin even when not in 4wd?  I'm not sure how to proceed to find the problem and I am worried that the more I drive it, the more damage I could potentially do.  ANY thoughts no matter how minor you think they might be I will take.

Thanks!

Did you figure this out?  The transfer case gears do spin in 2wd that is how power gets to the rear.
