All C20's were 8 lug in 1981. Someone might have changed the cab and used the cab's VIN. Welcome from NW Indiana

Welcome from California, I agree with zieg, more than likely cab was changed, or worse someone swapped vin #'s.

one thing, someone might have broken the rear in the c20 and had a c10 rear/frame just laying around. and didnt want 8 lug front and 5 lug rear so they swapped frames or (highly unlikely) swapped the rear and front suspension parts, but thats too much work. or they swapped vins like both said above. either way i wouldnt talk to many people about this, this is another stretch but if the cops think somethings up they might impound it to do a stolen vehicle inspection. then might just keep it and you just lose your truck if you can prove you didnt know about the vin swap

Well the vehicle was purchased without a title so before purchasing the vehicle I got T22 run on it. A T22 is done with a police officer and he verifies the vin in person, and calls it in to GBI (georgia) to verify is the car has been reported stolen, salvage title or whatever. tHE oFFICER SIGNED OFF ON THE PAPERWORK, and the car has been registered and insured for almost 3 years in my name. Due to being stationed out the county I never spent as much time with my truck as I have in the past few months. Like I said my insurance card says C20. How can I verify the cab, to the bed?

Another thing, the car sits higher than my brother C10, so I assume, not verified that it has some type of heavy duty suspension setup.

They never made a C20 in a short bed either. Does the glove box have the sticker in it? Is the dimmer switch on the floor or turn signal?

The dimmer switch is on the turn signal.
If the dash down left just has a headlight switch and AC vent if equipped the cab is a 1984 or newer
