yesterday I installed the heads on my 454, rebuilt heads, surfaced and the such. This is the first time I used ARP thread sealer and I'm a little nervous now that I'm all torqued down. Here's why I'm in question, since I've never used this thread sealer before I applied a little to the threads on the heater hose inlet on the intake as well as the new bypass hose fitting on the front of the intake. This was a week ago and the little bit that squeezed out is really still pretty much as "wet" as when I installed both fittings. When applying the sealer to my head bolts I applied it liberally enough to fill all thread grooves. Maybe I'm just use to other products but ARP sealer seems somewhat weak or water-like compared to the near paste-like products such as Permatex?
Next question, IF....IF I was to start over on sealing the head bolts what would be the thought on this process: remove one head bolt at a time, spray with break clean, re-apply a thread sealer I'm more familiar with, reinstall the bolt, re-torque. Of course repeating this with all bolts. As further information, my head gaskets are Felpro 508 SDs (black with the blue sealing bead.)
Am I concerned for nothing or what? Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
