Name a truck, why?
I know women that have named their cars or trucks but not any men.

We call my friend's '79 "Blacky". I have a tan and cream '77 that I called "Bucky". It hated that name and has given me heck ever since, now I call it "Christine". I now drive a black '80. I haven't named it, I'm afraid of pissing it off.

My '77 K-truck was known for years as "White Lightning". Its 396 made it pretty fast. The later 454 only added to the legend. White Lightning was eventually shortened to just "Whitey".

Now that I am painting it blue, the Whitey tag has been passed to my white '94 K2500.

The new name I have chosen for my '77 is "Maiden America". This name comes from a World War II B-17 Flying Fortress, and its equally evocative nose art.

The name Maiden America is a play on the words "made in America" which is fitting to my truck as I have been able to source US made parts for the whole build. :)

My '97 Blazer is "Blaze". Or "da Blaze" (said in a Tattoo -Hervé Villechaize- voice)

My '02 is Blackie. The wife's '01 is ol' Red.

My 87 F-250 has just simply aquired the name "the Diesel"
My 77 K-10 is "Francine"
My 86 K-20 up til recently I've called "Isamae" as it's lived it's entire life on a 300 acre farm, bought new by an old Farmer (my grandpa) and has NEVER been more than 35 miles from home that I'm aware of. However now that my grandpa is 95 and the three hip surgeries and mild dementia are getting the best of him, I find myself saying "come on Papaw" while trying to persuade it to start or creep up a hill. I have a feeling this will be what sticks after he passes.

My 69 C-30 and 1950 international 110 have yet to be named, as both have been sitting for decades awaiting me to take over ownership and give them new life.

However my favorite truck name to date would be my cousins MASSIVE 78 F-150 on 40" Ground Hogs with straight stacks named "Alma Fern" after his sweet but fearless neighbor lady.

I don't name my vehicles anymore but with that said I used to. So my current '75 4x4 shorty is called 'beat' with a lower case 'b' because someone or the factory had put 'Heartbeat of America' on the rear sides. The majority of the decals fell off but the 'beat' part on both sides is still intact. Hence it's name. It lives up to to that name too.

The only other truck I remember naming was my '78 4x4 shorty back in the '80's. It was called Taz (cartoon about the tazmanian devil by Loony tunes) because it was quick, nimble, and very seldom got stuck but was pretty socially unacceptable because it was loud. I didn't use any mufflers after the headers for a while and just ran 2-1/2" straight pipes to exit in front of the rear wheels, but I did have homemade expansion cans on it placed about at the rear of the t-case IIRC.
I am what I am and I ain't no more!

Hey everyone. I'm new to the site. And was looking at some of the older posts and and this one caught my eye.
Growing up, my dad had a 1973 K20 that he bought brand new. We named that Nellie.
When I first got married, my (now ex) father-in-law gave me his old farm truck. 1972 F250. Big and blue and rusty and ugly. But I loved that old truck. Named that one Old Blue.
Then I had a 1976 4X4 GMC Jimmy. That one wasn't all that original. Called it Jimmy, or Big Jim.
The 1989 F150 4X4 was Old Red.
The 1998 Dodge 4X4 was Blackie.
The 1979 K10 that I have now is King Neptune. My daughter named it. Don't know where she came up with that. But since she's my princess, I have to keep it.
And I also have a 1974 GMC Jimmy 4X4 that I was going to build with my son. But I live in Idaho. And he's now living in Arizona. It doesn't run yet. Needs a new crank and bearings. Thinking that I'll get it running this spring. And maybe he'll move back here so we can start the project we've always planned on doing together. But either way, I'm thinking I'll wait until the project is completed, or at least near completed to name it. Something appropriate will come up by then.
