Anyone with aluminum radiator swap experience?
« on: August 16, 2014, 10:47:15 pm »
I've got a 78 c15 350 with what looks like the original radiator. I'm looking to replace it and ecklers sells an aluminum 3 row for a reasonable price. Anybody have any experience with this or other aftermarket rads?
Thanks everybody!

Aftermarket is no problem. They drop right in, I forget the brand of mine but it fit like a glove. I'll double check that and get back to ya.

I had/have one in mine.  No issues.

I have been looking at the champion sold on ecklers. Any owners with comments?

When we put in the crate engine I had a "BeCool" radiator in ours.  It eventually leaked, I am not going to blame it on the radiator, we got in a hurry and the mounts we rigged were not the best.  Now I have a Griffin and have been pleased with it so far.  Quality is great on the Griffin.
Two suggestions:
1) confirm the measurements.  Just because it says it fits a 73-87 does not mean it is the same size as what is in your truck.  It is helpful to get the same size so you can re-use your mounts.
2) a shroud (presuming you will switch to electric fans) is important if you are going to need extra cooling (towing, hot climate, more horsepower).
