transmission shavings
« on: February 12, 2015, 03:51:47 am »
we have a 84 chevy we are rebuilding
we had a 700r4 rebuilt and swapped out for the turbo 350

question is, after the install, "we did" it sat a while before test driving to set tv cable adjustment
noticed that the rear seal was leaking alittle. this irked me for the fact the money spent, but the tranny
did sit in our shop for 3 months until install. so i bought a new seal.
to our findings, there was what seems to be metal shavings or metallic stuff around the seal.
is this  a norm when breaking in, or should we be throwing a fit to the tranny shop?
we have put less than 50 miles on the new tranny and seems to either shift little to hard in the morning,
but when warms up, little softer shifts, it shifts immeditly when placed out of park to drive, but a 3 second
delay going into reverse.
thanks for any opinions and or input

Mtal shavings at rear seal could be from rear bushing, inspect yoke closely. They could also be coming from rear case bushing
