paint code and matchup; green truck
« on: April 06, 2014, 05:52:08 pm »
<---------------------- Look here at my picture. That's my truck. I eventually want to repaint it that color. What's the green color called and is there a paint code I can match it to?

I wouldnt do it, its an ugly color.....Just kidding. Mine is 517 Lime Green. One thing I did change on the paint formula was changing from a fine flake to a medium. The new fine flake is alot finer than the fine flake in the 70's.

But where can we find the paint codes is the question. I have an 80 K10 that is a bronze mettalic with tan side panels. Where can I find the original paint code for this truck.

I was hoping there was a code number on the body somewhere that I could take to my paint supplier to match up. I like TCP a lot and thank you for sending me there but I was looking for a factory number somewhere on the body.

Only found on the RPO sticker as far as I know, found in the glove box or inner fender well under the hood.

The sticker in the glove box is still there. How does one decode it??? The numbers are the following:

38-5214

B06

15565246

01290413     102186

Your lucky to have your RPO paper in the glove box still.  You can go to the GM Heritage web site through the link provided from our tech section.
I looked, but could not find any numbers matching what you wrote down, if I am correct the "38-5214" number you wrote down should be your paint code, but like I said I did not find it.  You can go and browse the site and look around.

The paint color should be written out in the description area on the option sticker with the code next to it.  It might also have a "WA number".

Sartobuilt, that is one fine looking truck. The paint is very nice and it has the right stance as well. Can you give me some details on the lift and what year the truck is? Sorry OP for sidetracking your thread I couldn't help drooling over his truck..

There are 4 greens for 1973 Chevrolet Pickup if that is what year yours is.  Below are the GM color numbers and the associated PPG numbers for them...
Glenwood Green (dark)           GM 505     PPG 48520 Dark Green
Lime Green (metallic)              GM 517     PPG 2566 Lime Poly
Moss Olive                              GM 562      PPG 2571 Light Olive
Marine Turquoise (metallic)    GM 568      PPG 2572 Light Turquoise Poly
