Heater Won't Work (Engine Swap)
« on: February 28, 2015, 10:27:23 pm »
Ok here it goes lol. I have a 1976 C10. The truck came with A/C. The PO did an engine swap. The engine he swapped in does not have A/C. I can not get the fan/heater to blow anything. I can hear it click under the dash somewhere but that is all it does. I know going down the road, she has warm air coming out of the vents. I assume that is because the system doesn't turn "Off". Basically I want to know if there is a easy way to test the motor, or if the no A/C could be causing my problems. I have been trying to find a wiring diagram of the A/C or heater system for under the dash/under hood. The Fuse is good. The switch on the dash that controls the fan speed, is broken and someone has a scew in it to make it flipable. Thanks for any advice. I can gladly post pics or anything else I need to help get this thing going. Also I am not going to put A/C back in the truck, so what I can I do to delete all the A/C componets/wiring left in the truck. The condenser and all is still in the truck.

test the motor by popping the hood and running 12v to the male spade connector on the motor. if it works see if your getting 12v to the female connector you just pulled off and work from there
use this for wire diagrams

well I kinda tinkered with it before I came in and wrote this. I would have stayed out longer but I felt frostbite coming so I ran in the house like a wimp. I had removed the fan speed selector switch and put 12v power to the plug behind the switch and seen that the motor still clicks. tomorrow ill take the truck to work and park inside so I can find the motor and test it.
