I would go with the 1406 before the autolite.

Ok other then jeggs do you now of any other websites or stores that could get a rebuild kit for the 1406 for less then 40 dollars?

Autoparts stores probably, my local one has tons of stuff for edelbrock and holley carbs.

Not sure. My 1400 was turned out 2.5 times, that was it's happy area but I think anything past 4.5 or 5 turns it will fall out. Remember, when you tighten the screws, tighten then LIGHTLY. On enough to just seat them. Other wise the very tips will be damaged.
