Cruise Control
« on: October 18, 2015, 01:51:02 pm »
I have a 1985 K20 Suburban, Silverado package, 8600 GVW, 350ci with a Quadrajet.  There are no engine control computers.
I am trying toget this vehicle in very nice condition with everything working.
I use cruise control a lot in my day to day driving.

This vehicle had cruise control from the factory. The turn signal control has the switch for cruise.  Currently the cruise control is not installed.  The bracket, vacuum servo, Casco control box and a lot of vacuum lines are in a box in my work shop.  As far as I can tell all the wiring is still in the engine compartment.  I have not removed the gauge cluster yet.  I know am missing several vacuum check valves, fittings and hardware.

My questions are
1) How many of these systems still work? I don't want to connect this system to find out I can get it working.
2) Are there any sources for new parts? I do not like used parts but will use them if I have to.
3) Are there any parts of this system that have a high failure rate?
4) Can I get some pictures of the installed system on a vehicle? I have the service manual which I download from this site. (Thank you for the upload) Some modern color pictures would be nice.

Thank you for any help

I personally never had good luck with them.  The later model ones starting in 1982 with the VSS for the cruise were better, which is what you should have.
