Hood-fenders metal thickness

On my 1977 C10, I've got cancer in the hood & right fender. I'm thinking of buying a new hood & fender, but I don't know about metal gauge. Is the new metal thickness the same as OEM metal?

Not usually. 

If you can find some used parts with less or no cancer you'll be miles ahead on quality.
