Hey guys!
Hopefully this is something simple. My truck is a 74 K10 with a 350/350/NP205 combo.
The objective is to select reverse from park. When the transmission is in park, I have to first select neutral in order to go back up into reverse. When I go from park to neutral, I don't feel any detents through the lever. However, after I drop into neutral and go back up to reverse, the detents are there, and it's a positive selection into reverse. There is no hesitation into gear and it's nice and smooth.
I've had the truck close to 10 years and it's always done this. It's never been a big deal as I can still quickly and reliably select reverse. I've been working out all the bugs over the years and this one is finally up. A little more info. I just dropped the pan and replaced the filter and 4 quarts of fluid. There was the normal black film, no metal flakes and no chunks in the pan. The trans goes into drive and reverse fine, and shifts well into all gears. Unknown mileage.
I'm hoping this is an adjustment or other simple issue. I've followed the linkage adjustment procedures in Haynes/Chilton manual with no improvement. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Rob.
