Bore sizing
« on: January 26, 2017, 12:13:13 pm »
I rebuild the 6.5L for the Marine Corps so I know how to make the measurements but all our blocks are bored out. So in my 79 350 that has had no work done to it would have standard sized pistons, rings, and bearings correct?

Wanting to do a rebuild on it but not sure what to order as far as rebuild kits I'd imagine just a 4.000 rebuild kit with all standard sized pieces. Any other time I'd of course tear it apart before ordering but my timeline is limited and lack of measurement tools(micrometer, dial board gauge)

I'd greatly appreciate any help. Thank you

but about your block. get it checked by the mecein shop theyll tell you what they had to do and what size to get. is there damage to the block right now or you just wanting to bore it out? most will say a safe bore it .30 over and it cleans up "most" damage but i want to say you can bore to .60 over but thats max. 4.000 is stock bore size for the 350. if you just want to rebuild and theres no damage then thats what you want. most kits wont be accepted if opened. so make sure you get the right kit for your needs

then you should be good with the standard kit, you can get a re-ring kit from a parts store (most offer military discounts) or summit
