1982 Stepside Build Thread

I've been trying to post a build thread on my first C10 ever since I got it a few months ago. Anyway, the truck is a Canadian GMC Sierra, 350 4 bolt main, 350 trans. No interior at all except carpet and dashpad when I got it. It sat for two years after the alarm system kept it from starting, so it was used as a parts truck. I'm an aircraft technician so all of the sheetmetal repairs I did are exactly like those on planes: with rivets. Bed just had a rotten piece of plywood and I replaced it with some floor boards from my friend's house (treated them of course) and I plan to paint the whole truck with John Deere Blitz Black. Already did the interior with that paint and loved it.

welcome from maryland. you know i laughed when you first said you used rivets but i think if done right, the truck could take the appearance of a plane and would pretty cool. think the kids would love it also

Hi, are you using hardwood floor for the bed? If yes, how easy was it to lay out and what width did you used?

A lot has happened since I last made this thread. I never got notifications when you guys responded. Crap!

Chuck, I am almost a year late, but the wood is yellow line from a 40 year old house. I used some 8 inch wide planks and 5 inch wide planks since that's what was given to me. It wasn't very hard to pay out. Some test fitting before drilling the holes and you should be good
