88 Chevy 1ton wiring problem
« on: April 07, 2007, 03:10:00 pm »
As some of you know my 88 1ton is the same body as 87 and earlier. I changed the 454 out for a 350 small block and ran into all kinds of sensers in the wrong places. I had removed the 350 from an 88 Suburban so we tried the harness out ot that. didn't work. When I compaired the position of the spades in the plugs there were differances. I am now looking for a 87 350 TBI harness. Any input would appreciated.

Your original harness isn't all that different. Just rerouting some of the wires and changing a few pigtails can easily mak this functional again...

You have an extra harness, shouldn't have any cutting involved
use wires from the other harness, those blades will come out of the bulkhead connector pretty easy.

I think you have the newer style connector. There is a deal that holds the blades in, the one in the pic is white and fits in the slot. You have to dig all that brown insulation crap out to ease the removal of the blades from the connector. On the right is the older style blades next to the newer. I hopes this helps.
