Blow the horn when you come through.  If you are at/near I59/I65 junction around 8:15 you might see me in my truck.
Have fun!  Jamie and I are going in the opposite direction to the Maggie Valley Show.  We are leaving tomorrow night around 7pm.

Dang, everyone is going somewhere.  I'll be at the Richmond NASCAR race both Busch Friday and Nextel Saturday nights. I'll be on pit road both races....look for me on TV. I'll be the bald (nearly) guy in the brown deputy uniform.  Last September I was with Dave Burns ' camera crew.  I may be with Alan Bestwicks crew this weekend, or Matt Yoakum.

Jamestown next weekend....400th anniversary.  The camper is ready.

SgtDel of all the tracks I have been to I like Richmond the best...friendliest people and best racing.  Love the hospitality area all inside the Fair buildings.

I keep pinching myself while working all around these teams---standing in Kyle Busch's pits during the race, leaning against the stack of tires that will go on his car next, standing under Denny Hamlin's chief's war wagon, looking at the two big screens hooked up to that, watching the airing of the race. Joe Gibbs spares no expense.  Running to Gatorade Victory Lane after the race to meet Harvick pull up in his victory car (during the Busch race).  I am holding the monitor, pointing it at Kevin so he knows when the commercials are over he'll get the signal to jump out of his car when the camera goes live again. Man, they should've warned me!!!  Beer and Gatorade and who knows what else went flying....i got soaked.  The pics i took right then clearly displays a wet camera lens. I think i had as much fun as Harvick.

My website of the pics of the races-- an angle few get to see

That is a great track....can see everything no matter where you are, and, both races are at night...the only track claiming that.  September's race is a little better, they fight to see who will make the chase.  Then, they celebrate hard after they've made the chase...Dale Jr was pounding those Budweisers on pit road after he found out he was in the chase...he was a happy man. He was sitting on pit road, with his feet on a cooler full of beer.  Each empty can, he would throw up under the race car while it still sat on pit road....man, the stuff you don't see on TV.

Speaking of Robby Gordon---I remember a few years back when he drove the Coors car, he would always finish near the end.  Well, I was entering the track as a spectator to get to my seats, and I see Robby Gordon in his uniform riding a moped with a lady on the back.  This was about 45 minutes before the race, he is driving this thing under the stands weaving through the dense crowd blowing his horn.  He came right in front of me, and I, after 10 hours of tailgating and throwing shoes and creating many, many empty 12 ounce aluminum cans (gotta love the night races--hours of tailgating) I reach down and grabbed his arm and kind of shook it and while it was still on the handle bars of the moped and said, "you gonna come in last again today?"  I still cant believe I said that to him, but many beers does wonders.  I thought my brother was gonna die laughing right there on the spot.  ;D  He finished last that day!

Some good times at that track.  They are calling for a wonderful weekend here, 72 degrees Saturday.....wish i could drink a few then, but, i still like seeing it from the pits that much better and throwing out the press camera dudes who get in front of the network's tv camera....that is a no no.  The camera guys for the magazines and newspapers always wanna get up in front of the TV cameras for that perfect shot...well, the TV is what pays the bills and I have been instructed  not to give warnings....they are sent out of the track when they do that. If Dave Burns, Matt Yoakum, Alan Bestwick nod at us, that is the signal to boot em out.

265? no, not me.  I am about 70 lbs less than that.  I walked by Jeff Burton many times today. There were four of us deputies out there tonight for the Busch race, on tv crews....just got back home(midnight).  I need to watch the race in the morning (i taped it) and see if i made it on tv or not.  I am leaving for the nextel race around 1pm and hanging around the pits and drivers meeting before I actually report to the tv compound.   Tonight i was with Mike Massaro on pit road. He's pretty cool...he doesn't like to hold his notes during an interview during the race so he always gave me his notes...that was my cue that he was getting ready to go live. I know one of my deputies made it on tv because when Mike was interviewing a driver, I saw on the monitor that another tv crew was nearby and preparing to interview a driver and the deputy was right there in the background. That deputy is bald and about 5'10, but only about 210lbs.--  no mustache though.

my tv crew

I was in the winner's (boyer's) pits when he took the checkers.

Tomorrow will be a busy day.

...didn't get the race in tonight, tomorrow will be a long day.  I was with Matt Yoakum tonight, for the brief time we were live.

The new Richmond stands are 10 stories high...the tallest structue in this county. Quite a view!

Hey, there is my sheriff's car.  This pic shows the pre race show on SPEED with Kenny Wallace and Jimmy Spencer on the Home Depot deck.

Jeff Gordon talking to DW and Jeff Hammond and Chris Myers b4 the race.
