What makes people act so?

I stopped and looked at a black 91 Blazer last night.
 6" lift, 4" cowl hood, 35" BFG All Terains in real nice shape, and that was about all that was worth looking at!
 The moron wants $5,000 for it. One of those buy here pay here dealers! Salvage sticker in the door jamb, floors had been patched if thats what you would call it, screws, & rivets, no carpet. The whole drivers side door post, foot well was not attached to the floor. You open the door all the way and the whole door post turns out with it! The gap between the rear of drivers door and quarter panel was about 2.5" ( no lye ). They had cut another door post section out where the striker goes, spaced it out from the jamb, & welded it & the striker in place ( with a stick welder ), so the door would latch!!! The passengers door, & hood both rubbed the fender, & cowl when you opened them. both the inner fenders had rust. The grill was zip tied in. Windshield was cracked. My wheelin rig is nicer .

Some people are crazy.  I went and looked at one last year and the guy that had it told me before I got there that everything was there except the motor/trans and some of the interior pieces were  rolled with bedliner material.  When I got there, the complete wiring harness was hacked in about 20 places, One side had a gash in it (body was straight with minor dents) and NONE of the interior was in it except the 3 pieces that were rolled with beadliner.  He wanted $800, I told him he would never get over $400 for it and offered him $350.  He ended up crushing it....

The reason I stopped was the cowl hood, lifted, and was shiny black paint. Its a 60 / 60 truck looks good from 60 feet at 60 MPH. Motor was caked in grease and grime. Couldn't even see the ribs / valve cover bolts, fan shroud was busted up, used an old broom stick for a hood prop rod. The underside had about 2" of mud all over it.

I think they meant 5,000 cents. People always think their garbage cans are worth their weight... I looked at a stepside with nearly 300k no options 6 cyl granny tranny 2wd. The guy wanted $10k! I nearly threw up

  lol....aint it the truth....But you no some one will buy it tho...U can sell 3,000 lbs of bondo....As long as it looks like a 57 chevy some one will buy it

The sad truth is that someone will likely buy that truck...Barrett Jackson and all the "copycat" auctions are driving the price way on up there. As long as the demand is there, there will be those who "pretty em up" and rake in the cash............

Meh. They're marketing to the folks who'll pay anything, so long as it gets financed. I've known people who financed computers, and still owed far more than their computer was worth, even after the thing had gone obsolete. But... hey! No credit check!!!

So... the truck will likely go to some numbskull thinking "Cool tires! I can be a bad!" followed by "No credit check!!! Whoooooo!"

Here's one for you. Saturday I drive 234 miles one way to buy a CJ (my other passion). I had seen an add with pics, talked to the owner, got some cash out of the bank, and enlisted my next door neighbor to take a road trip. The owner told me all about the Jeep in great detail, and told me it was in fact a rust free vehicle. He used the words, "zero rust". Long story short, I get there and there is rust everywhere! My neighbor is not a car guy and he noticed it instantly. You could touch it and see chunks crack away on the body. The frame rail had a rust hole. Rust through on every panel except the hood. I let the guy know I was not happy. He seem shocked, when I pointed out the rust. He asked me, "what do you do to fix it?" Much to my amazement, he was clueless, and I don't think it was an act. My question is, Why in the heck would someone say no rust, when it is a rust bucket?
