anybody use a phenolic carb spacer. do they make difference.

Well iv seen on horsepower tv ...They used a spacer and put it on a dyno and it showed that it added power....So why not...The way it works makes since it lifts your carb up higher and lets for a bigger gulp of air/fuel...

Mike, In most cases a spacer will help increase torque & horsepower. This is because it gives additional room to straighten the path for the air to go instead of  crashing into the floor of the intake. The non-metallic ones also help keeping a little heat off of the throttle plate. It is a simple install, so I feel it is worth trying it, however don't think you are going to gain 30 HP from this, on one case this may have happened, but that is probably with a  $130 spacer & after ALOT of testing. Gains of a few ft. lbs & hp is more like it. One thing I would advise is if you have an intake with 4 round holes (stock type), I would only use a  4 hole spacer. Have Fun, Lorne

They do increase power a little bit IF they're matched to your carb/intake like Lorne said..4 hole intake/carb, get a 4 hole spacer. I've got a few 1" spacers for a predator carb, since a spacer is required for good torque with one..

 Using phenolic helps to reduce carb temp, It helps to insulate the carb. If you have a 4 hole intake use a 4 hole spacer, Open intake open spacer, most spacer tests I have seen, the improvement was at the higher RPM using a 1"-2" spacer.
 Be sure to test the clearance between the spacer and throttle blades, don't need to have her stuck open on start up or on your test drive.

Horse power gains are at higher RPM and more beneficial on higher horse power/ RPM motors. You may lose some off idle/ low rpm throttle response, and probably not notice any power gain depending on the performance level of your engine. If any try the 1" spacer.
