5700 Vortec
« on: March 16, 2008, 08:24:58 pm »
I have the opportunity to pickup a complete engine less accessories for $250.  The engine has a knock but I have access to another crank and set of powder metal rods.  I am pretty sure I am gonna go ahead and get it if nothing else for the heads.

make sure the crank you have is for a one piece rear main seal block or it wont work.

$250 for usable Vortec heads(Barely Covers the cost of one)??? I would nab it for sure! Adapt the Heads to you current engine(Have a Machine Shop go over them, rebuild them. Also drill steam holes, depending on your Original Block), use a Vortec-style intake, and self-aligning rocker arms.. Should be able to see a 20-40Hp bump from the Stock Heads
