4X4 indicator light

My 4WD dash light isn't working. The bulb is ok. My truck is a 79 K20 with TH400 and NP203 t-case.
Where is the switch located, and are they known to go bad?

it is on the transfercase shifter and yes they can go bad or brake off

Access from the top by taking the boot off, or from the bottom easiest?
